Industrial Design Students “Link” a New Creative Future | KMC International Upcycled Materials Design Competition Wins Gold and Silver

To promote the reuse of waste materials and design innovation, the “Linking to a Different Future” | KMC International Upcycled Materials Design Competition, organized by KMC International Co., Ltd., invited students to apply their design expertise to transform discarded materials into functional and creative works, showcasing the diverse possibilities of material regeneration.

The competition theme focused on “waste material reuse” and design practice, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), which emphasizes efficient resource use, and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), which highlights directions for innovative development. It demonstrated the value of design in addressing issues of resource circulation.

Students from the Department of Industrial Design at our university delivered outstanding performance in this competition and were awarded Gold and Silver prizes:

These awards not only highlight the students’ innovative capabilities but also reflect the successful integration of design education with industry. In the future, we aim to cultivate more design talents equipped with innovative thinking and social responsibility, enabling design to truly become a key force connecting industry, the environment, and the future.
